Overview

We are looking for a Volunteer with lived experience of a disability / disabilities or long term health condition(s) to join our Board of Trustees. We are looking for individuals with a broad range of skills and are particularly keen to hear from individuals with experience in Human Resources (HR) and/or Employment Law.

In Short

  • Join the Board of Trustees for the Disability Resource Centre (DRC).
  • Contribute to strategic leadership and governance.
  • Bring skills in HR and Employment Law to the organization.
  • Participate in meetings and decision-making processes.
  • Support initiatives that empower disabled individuals.
  • Engage in organizational development and policy shaping.
  • Commit to a voluntary position for a three-year term.
  • Attend meetings approximately once every two months.
  • Claim reasonable expenses for attending meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with a diverse team.

Requirements

  • Empathy with the mission to empower disabled people.
  • Experience in HR or Employment Law is preferred.
  • Ability to scrutinize processes and suggest improvements.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to the organization.
  • Strategic vision and good independent judgement.
  • Ability to think creatively and speak openly.
  • Understanding of legal duties and responsibilities as a trustee.
  • Willingness to comply with organizational policies.
  • Teamwork skills and a commitment to public life principles.
  • Willingness to devote necessary time and effort.
