Overview

The Ostdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung (OAZ) is a new journalistic project of the Berliner Verlag. Our goal is to bring independent, unbiased, and well-founded journalism from Eastern Germany into the media spotlight – regionally rooted yet relevant on a broader scale. We combine 360-degree reporting on global events with strong local stories and open debate formats for the people in the area. We are looking for proactive support in Chemnitz!

In Short

• Research & topic identification: You identify relevant topics for Eastern Germany and prepare them creatively and pointedly.
• Reporting: You implement them in various formats – from reports and comments to glosses, listicles, and interviews.
• Continuous participation: You contribute to the editorial development through ideas, impulses, and constructive criticism.
• Teamwork: You will be part of a committed editorial team with high responsibility and team spirit.

Requirements

• Passion for topics and stories from Eastern Germany.
• Openness to listen and make voices visible that are often overlooked.
• Very good language skills and joy in writing.
• Reliable and structured working style, flexibility, and curiosity about new formats.
• German language skills at a native level; additional language skills are a plus.
• Ideally, some experience in editorial work and handling digital tools, social media, or research methods.
• Strong connection to Eastern German perspectives and realities of life, with the ability to contextually and knowledgeably journalistic categorize them.
