Overview

The Limited Term Cable Splicing Technician is responsible for working on all types of cable in various environments, ensuring proper connections, repairs, and maintenance while adhering to safety practices.

In Short

• Work on cable in manholes, trenches, and on poles.
• Splice and waterproof cable coverings.
• Review and interpret technical diagrams.
• Use hand tools and electrical/mechanical equipment.
• Drive a company vehicle.
• Perform maintenance on outside plant facilities.
• Follow established safety procedures.
• Meet physical requirements for the role.
• Participate in pre-employment screening.
• Contribute to positioning SBC as the premier provider.

Requirements

• Valid state driver’s license.
• Non-negligent driving record.
• Meet 275 lbs. weight limit due to safety restrictions.
• Ability to pass a Department of Transportation Physical.
• Ability to perceive differences in wire and cable colors.
• Ability to lift and move up to 100 lbs.
• Qualify on pre-employment screening: Technical/Mechanical Test III.
