Sr. Manager, Clinical Trial Payments – Contractor - Remote

Overview

This role oversees site contracts, grants, and payments to full-service CRO partnerships responsible for operational execution of budgets, payments, reconciliation, and study financial controls. The successful candidate must be fluent in clinical trial protocols and financial statements, highly skilled in influencing cross-functional and vendor partners, and able to uphold strict compliance with regulations.

• Oversee management and reconciliation of study-level contracts and grants.
• Establish policies for invoicing and payment procedures.
• Develop SOPs governing budgeting and payments.
• Ensure audit-ready documentation across all engagements.
• Understand global study budget forecasts.
• Translate clinical protocols into cost models.
• Implement just-in-time CRO funding.
• Oversee payment reconciliation and close-out documentation.
• Resolve escalated site payment issues.
• Support Oncology diseases preferred.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, life sciences, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in biotech/pharma or CRO roles.
• Ability to interpret clinical protocols into compliant budgets.
• Strong understanding of FMV frameworks and transparency requirements.
• Ability to analyze financial statements and cash flow impacts.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Experience managing global payment models preferred.
