Senior UX Designer - Remote

Overview

Aquia is seeking a Senior UX Designer to join a cross-functional agile team working to improve the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) digital disability benefits experience.

In Short

• Lead the design of user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
• Conduct and synthesize user research and usability testing.
• Collaborate closely with engineers and product managers.
• Ensure the Veteran experience is clear and compassionate.
• Mentor junior UX and service designers.
• Contribute to and help evolve the design system.
• Maintain well-organized design artifacts using tools like Figma.
• Actively participate in agile delivery cycles.
• Build strong working relationships across partner teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in UX, product, or service design.
• Expertise in human-centered design and usability best practices.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design process.
• Experience designing for accessibility standards.
• Familiarity with Figma, Mural, and agile tools.
• Proven ability to communicate design rationale clearly.
• Empathy for Veterans and commitment to improving public services.
