Overview

The Product Owner serves as the primary point of contact between stakeholders and business analysts working with the development team. They are responsible for defining requirements and acceptance criteria, collaborating on the definition and elaboration of features and user stories, managing the feature backlog, and ensuring that the development team delivers features that align with the product vision and business objectives. The Product Owner prioritizes tasks to ensure that the most valuable and feasible work is done first, monitors progress toward feature completion and assists in micro-decisions day to day.

In Short

  • Manages the product backlog to ensure readiness and priority.
  • Works closely with the business analyst and development team to ensure features are built according to specifications.
  • Creates Epic level work items with detailed Acceptance criteria.
  • Writes high-level business requirements.
  • Responsible for knowledge transfer and requirement collaboration with the Business Analyst.
  • Drives backlog refinement, incorporates feedback from stakeholders, and adjusts requirements as necessary.
  • Ensures the team focuses on features that provide the most value to the business or customer.
  • Monitors product performance, sets KPIs, and ensures the product meets business goals including on-time delivery.
  • Identifies potential risks and creates contingency plans to be reviewed with Product Managers and stakeholders.
  • Contributes to scope management decisions with Portfolio Leaders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent/years of experience required.
  • 4-7 years relevant work experience.
  • 1-3 years Product Owner/Management experience.
  • Software Design experience in complex, multi-tasking, real-time, highly available systems.
  • Experience with relational databases.
  • Experience working in small, highly focused teams.
  • Experience with complex software solutions across multiple generations of product.
  • Clinical experience preferred.
  • Experience writing technical functional specifications.
  • Project Management skills.
