Overview

The Underwriter will be responsible for assessing and evaluating insurance applications to determine coverage and pricing. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of insurance policies and regulations.

In Short

  • Review insurance applications and supporting documents to evaluate risk, eligibility, and coverage.
  • Analyze underwriting data, including medical records, credit reports, and claims history.
  • Determine appropriate coverage levels and pricing based on risk assessment.
  • Communicate with agents, brokers, and policyholders to gather additional information or clarify requirements.
  • Understand and apply insurance policies, exclusions, and regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct research on industry trends and best practices to continuously improve underwriting processes.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as claims and actuarial, to gather and analyze data for risk assessment.
  • Participate in training programs and stay updated with industry knowledge and changes.
  • Provide support and guidance to junior underwriters as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for underwriting decisions and transactions.
