Overview

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides essential support in delivering safe and effective dialysis therapy under the supervision of a licensed nurse, ensuring patient comfort and care.

In Short

• Assist in the setup and operation of hemodialysis machines.
• Monitor and document patient vital signs and treatment parameters.
• Provide patient education regarding dialysis treatment.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.
• Perform vascular access cannulation and administer medications as allowed.
• Assist with the training of new staff under nurse supervision.
• Coordinate transitional care for newly admitted patients.

• Document all patient care activities accurately.

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
• Previous patient care experience preferred.
• Must complete dialysis training program and CPR certification.
• Ability to lift and move patients as required.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to patient care and organizational values.
• Compliance with state and federal certification requirements.
• Ability to maintain a clean work environment.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing training and education.
• Must pass Ishihara's Color Blindness test.
