Overview

The Patient Care Technician functions as part of the dialysis healthcare team, providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse, ensuring compliance with regulations and organizational policies.

In Short

  • Provide dialysis therapy and monitor patient well-being.
  • Assist in patient education regarding dialysis and disease processes.
  • Perform vascular access cannulation and administer heparin.
  • Document vital signs and treatment parameters accurately.
  • Ensure a safe and clean working environment.

  • Assist in training new staff under supervision.
  • Engage with patients to provide support and care.
  • Follow infection control protocols rigorously.
  • Travel between assigned facilities as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Previous patient care experience preferred.
  • Certification requirements as per state or CMS guidelines.
  • Strong commitment to customer service standards.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist patients.
  • Completion of dialysis training program and CPR certification required.
  • Effective communication skills and teamwork.
  • Understanding of infection control practices.
  • Ability to document treatment data accurately.
