Overview

The Director of Regulatory Affairs is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of Aetna Better Health of Virginia’s comprehensive state regulatory affairs and account management strategy, with a focus on engaging with state healthcare regulatory agencies.

• Responsible for engaging with Virginia Medicaid Agency and other state regulatory agencies.
• Manage strategic relationships with community organizations and key stakeholders.
• Monitor state regulatory activity and respond to inquiries.
• Oversee documentation and management of state-level inquiries and complaints.
• Draft formal responses to proposed rules and policies from state agencies.
• Collaborate with internal teams to develop regulatory advocacy resources.
• Attend public regulatory meetings and provide updates to health plan management.
• Maintain knowledge of trends affecting managed care organizations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Requires travel to attend meetings.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in public policy focusing on Medicaid.
• Experience working with state regulatory agencies.
• Strong understanding of state regulatory processes in health services.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to draft persuasive policy documents.
• Capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; Master’s preferred.

• Experience with stakeholder engagement and coalition-building.
