Overview

The Texas Tribune is seeking a newsletter writer and strategist to lead our flagship newsletters The Brief and The Brief Weekly and oversee fast-moving news coverage for a statewide audience. This role is central to making the Tribune an even more indispensable source of nonpartisan news for Texans.

• Writing The Brief and The Brief Weekly, curating important policy and politics news.
• Strategizing on breaking news and enterprise work via email.
• Collaborating with fellow newsletter product leaders on strategy.
• Using analytics to monitor performance and inform newsletter strategy.
• Adjusting content based on audience segments.
• Ensuring accuracy and consistency in newsletter copy.
• Building relationships with readers through audience engagement.
• Growing audiences for Tribune email products.
• Developing additional newsletters for specific audiences.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree and 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in newsletters, breaking news, or audience engagement.
• Familiarity with email management systems like Beehiiv.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a professional environment.
• Strong multitasking and deadline management skills.
• Excellent writing and editing skills.
• Strong communication and storytelling abilities.
