Executive Underwriter (Primary Casualty) - Remote

Overview

Palomar is a rapidly growing and innovative insurer focused on providing specialty insurance to residential and commercial customers. We are looking for an experienced Executive Underwriter for our admitted primary casualty lines.

In Short

• Produce and manage a profitable book of business.
• Develop relationships with existing and potential brokers and customers.
• Onboard, train, and manage a team of Associate Underwriters and Senior Underwriters.
• Select, price, quote, and review new & renewal business.
• Establish and maintain strong business relationships.
• Review underwriting information to assess risk quality.
• Evaluate reinsurance requirements.
• Communicate and collaborate across disciplines.
• Continue to improve personal knowledge and practices.
• Work in a dynamic environment with a focus on innovation.

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of current underwriting insurance experience.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to apply underwriting tools and resources.
• Strong mentoring and relationship-building skills.
• CPCU or professional insurance designation preferred.
• Ability to organize and self-prioritize.
• Entrepreneurial spirit and energetic approach.
• Ability to work in various technical platforms.
• Professional, analytical, and adaptable attitude.
