Python Developer for Home Assistant - Remote

Overview

The Open Home Foundation is seeking a passionate Python developer, based in Europe, to join our Home Assistant department as a full-time Software Engineer. This team is responsible for the open development, maintenance, and enhancement of the Home Assistant platform; supporting new functionality aligned with our roadmap and enabling the wider community to contribute and innovate easily.

In Short

• Conduct code reviews of pull requests from our community and teammates.
• Collaborate with our community to investigate and address reported issues.
• Improve developer documentation for easier contributions.
• Provide input on architectural proposals and code changes.
• 3+ years of Python development experience required.
• 2+ years of experience with async Python 3.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Experience with Git and GitHub.
• Fluency in English is essential.
• Must be based in Europe and eligible to work there.

Requirements

• Experience in a remote, asynchronous work environment.
• A passion for smart homes and automation is a plus.
• Experience contributing to open-source projects is desirable.
• Affinity with open-source development philosophy.
• Experience with Home Assistant integrations is a plus.
• Awareness of modern AI tools for workflow improvement.
