Overview

Omni Institute seeks a Senior Research Manager to join our team of consultants and researchers who are passionate about driving social impact. Senior Research Managers at Omni play a dual role as both thought partners and project leaders: they design rigorous, equity-centered evaluation and research approaches while also guiding clients through practical, actionable solutions that strengthen their work. This position offers the opportunity to lead multi-method projects; build and sustain trusted client relationships; and mentor staff in both research and consulting skills.

In addition to contributing across Omni’s core practice areas, this role will have the opportunity to lead projects in our Center for Social Investment, working at the intersection of philanthropy, innovative investments, and social impact. Here, Senior Research Managers support foundations, impact investors, and nonprofit partners in assessing strategies, evaluating investments, and building innovative models to strengthen communities.

In Short

  • Lead multi-disciplinary consulting project teams, ensuring methodological rigor and client satisfaction.
  • Manage and expand client relationships, with responsibility for both delivery of projects and client growth.
  • Design and oversee projects that involve complex, mixed-method evaluations.
  • Support and mentor staff, providing feedback that builds both technical and consulting skills.
  • Contribute to business development efforts by scoping projects, contributing to proposals, and expanding project opportunities with your existing clients.
  • Evaluate capital-driven initiatives such as social investments, impact investments, or new and innovative social investment models.
  • Translate financial and programmatic data into insights that inform more equitable, community-centered investments.
  • Share learnings across Omni, helping shape best practices in consulting and evaluation.

Requirements

  • A passion for using data to advance equity and drive meaningful social change.
  • Extensive experience designing and executing multi-method research or evaluation projects; typically a Ph.D. with applied experience or a master’s degree with significant additional years of applied consulting experience.
  • Proven consulting skills, including:
    • Comfort working with diverse clients and stakeholders, often across sectors.
    • Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights that resonate with community partners, funders, and decision-makers.
    • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple intersecting workstreams and teams to deliver projects that meet client expectations and timelines.
    • A solutions-focused mindset, with the ability to navigate competing priorities while maintaining trust and transparency.
    • Ability to lead and thrive in a fast-paced, team-based consulting environment.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple independent project teams, budgets, and timelines.
  • Commitment to Omni’s Core Values:
    • Connection – supporting colleagues and clients through collaboration.
    • Agility – adapting to new challenges and approaches.
    • Inquiry – asking questions and learning from diverse perspectives.
    • Accountability – delivering high-quality, timely work and giving/receiving constructive feedback.
  • Experience centering equity, diversity, and inclusion in evaluation.
  • Demonstrated interest in a social impact career and interest in applying your experience across Omni’s Core diverse content areas, especially in Behavioral Health, Children & Families, Economic Security, and our Center for Social Investment.
  • Experience using R programming language to manage, analyze, visualize, or report on data.

Benefits

  • 100% employer-paid employee health premiums
  • Vision, dental, and supplemental insurance
  • 401k with company match and immediate vesting
  • Flexible working schedules
  • 3 weeks PTO, 11 floating holidays, quarterly office closures, and annual office closure from Dec 24–Jan 1
  • Monthly tech stipend and wellness benefits

Please note: Omni does not negotiate salaries or benefits, as research shows this practice can disproportionately impact candidates from marginalized groups.
