Overview

This leadership role oversees a talented engineering team responsible for maintaining and optimizing SCADA systems and data communication networks that support reliable water and wastewater operations across multiple districts. You’ll guide Instrumentation & Controls Engineers, lead high-level technical projects, and champion best practices in process control while coaching and developing your team. The position also manages contractor work, supports automation standards, and builds strong partnerships with Operations and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. We’re looking for an experienced engineering professional with a background in SCADA or OT cybersecurity systems, strong technical skills in PLCs and automation platforms, and proven success leading teams in complex environments. In Short

  • Provide leadership to engineering team responsible for maintaining and optimizing SCADA systems.
  • Lead and supervise the work of Instrumentation & Controls Engineers.
  • Act as a technical expert and lead higher-level projects.
  • Manage contractor projects for installation of process control equipment.
  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with Operations, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Hold routine one-on-one meetings and coach team members.
  • Work with controls staff & production personnel on process control systems.
  • Requires a 4-year degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in SCADA systems or OT Cyber Security Systems.
  • Requires strong management skills and a valid driver’s license.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in SCADA systems.
  • Managing teams on complex technical applications.
  • Proficiency in Allen-Bradley PLC’s.
  • Able to program AOI’s and UDT’s from scratch.
  • Skilled in Aveva System Platform and OMI.
  • Hands-on experience with communication networks and telemetry integration.
  • Knowledge of business applications and Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong management skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
