On-Call Chaplain - Remote

Overview

The On-Call Chaplain provides spiritual care, counsel, and emotional support to patients, families, and staff during on-call hours, ensuring compassionate and culturally competent care across various faith traditions.

In Short

• Cover on-call from 3 p.m. to 7 a.m. weekdays and 24 hours on weekends/holidays.
• Provide spiritual and emotional support to patients and families.
• Document interactions with patients and families clearly.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Facilitate advance care planning conversations.
• Maintain knowledge of medical ethics.
• Participate in flexible scheduling for continuous coverage.
• Engage additional spiritual resources as needed.
• Assist with referrals to faith group leaders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Bible, Theology, or related field.
• One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) required within one year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Master's degree in Divinity or Theology preferred.
• Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) preferred.
• Ordination or endorsement for chaplaincy preferred.
• Two years of relevant spiritual care experience preferred.
• Ability to manage time effectively across shifts.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
