Overview

The Associate Attorney position will gain extensive courtroom experience through regular appearances on behalf of the firm. This role is responsible for reviewing new claims and pleadings, managing a contested litigation queue, and supporting all aspects of the litigation process.

In Short

  • Appear in court on behalf of the firm a minimum of three days per week.
  • Review new claims for compliance with firm and client standards.
  • Review and approve pleadings filed with the courts, including complaints and motions.
  • Occasionally draft motions and responses for contested matters as needed.
  • Argue contested motions and conduct trials and arbitrations.
  • Manage telephonic and written communication with opposing counsel.
  • Prepare and respond to discovery or oversee counterclaims involving the firm or its clients.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate and admission to the Missouri Bar required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience with Collection Master or equivalent case management systems preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of staff, judges, opposing counsel, and court clerks.
  • Demonstrated tact, discretion, and courtesy in professional interactions.
  • Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, manage timelines, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records with strong attention to detail.
