AML Investigator (Fully Remote, Worldwide)

Overview

The primary purpose of this position is to efficiently and effectively conduct and adjudicate, (i.e. investigate) referrals of unusual activity made to the Compliance Team with a view to timely, (within regulatory timelines) SAR submission within applicable jurisdictions or closing the referral as not suspicious supported by articulated reasoned argument.

In Short

• Conduct investigations assigned by the Manager Compliance.
• Determine risk exposure to Bitfinex and mitigate risks.
• File SARs and recommend account closures as applicable.
• Support Customer Help Desk / Legal Team requests.
• Communicate with customers, agents, and internal attorneys.
• Maintain and develop strong relationships in the industry.
• Enhance skill sets in blockchain technology and suspicious activities.
• Provide input into AML training for Compliance colleagues.
• Share knowledge gained from investigations.
• Work closely with the Compliance Investigations Team.

Requirements

• Experience in AML investigation and compliance.
• Strong understanding of fraud and money laundering risks.
• Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
• Knowledge of blockchain technology and virtual currencies.
• Experience in conducting investigations and risk assessments.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in regulatory compliance.
• Ability to develop training materials.
