Overview

Ava is seeking remote Scribes to work on the Ava Echo project, which aims to provide real-time text correction for Deaf and Hard of Hearing users.

In Short

  • Work remotely correcting captions for DHH users.
  • Focus on users with Deaf Accents.
  • 5-15 hours per week, primarily 6AM-6PM PST.
  • Must have experience with spoken deaf accents.
  • Strong typing skills required.
  • Experience in transcription, translation, or captioning is a plus.
  • Must have a good Wifi connection and a quiet workspace.
  • Proactive communication is essential.
  • Training of approximately 4 hours is required.
  • Applications without answers to specific questions will be rejected.

Requirements

  • Must be a CODA or have experience with deaf accents.
  • Strong comprehension of various spoken accents in English.
  • Experience with ASL or deaf dialects preferred.
  • Experience in helping professions with DHH community is a plus.
  • Must have worked remotely for at least 6 months.
  • Reliable and communicative.
  • Typing speed and accuracy test required.
  • Must be flexible and excited about the mission.
  • Experience in transcription, translation, subtitling, proofreading, or captioning is a priority.
  • Willingness to train and start with a few hours a week.
